Saturday Night Live UK comedians revealed ahead of series launch
The six-episode live sketch series on Sky and NOW features 11 new UK comedians and aims to revive character-driven sketch comedy, producer James Longman said.
- On March 21, Sky will premiere Saturday Night Live UK, a six-episode live sketch series with 11 cast members broadcast weekly from London on Sky and NOW.
- With support from Sky's Phil Edgar-Jones, Lisa Clark, and Cecile Frot-Coutaz, Sky commissioned the series, produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio's UK team and Broadway Video.
- Each episode will be written, rehearsed and performed during the week of broadcast, staged live in front of a studio audience, with a guest host and musical guest each Saturday.
- Producers say the series offers a major opportunity for UK comedy, with lead producer James Longman highlighting the freshest voices and an expanded team of 18 writers supporting the cast.
- As the first UK incarnation of the format, this project marks NBC’s Saturday Night Live’s official British debut, backed by Broadway Video and executive producer Lorne Michaels.
