'Saturday Night Live UK' Extended To Eight Episodes
The show features a new British cast performing live sketches weekly, with eight episodes planned and big-name hosts like Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, and Riz Ahmed.
- On March 21, Saturday Night Live UK premieres live from London at 10 p.m., with its inaugural season extended to eight episodes from six on Sky.
- Developed over nearly five years, the project began when James Longman met Lorne Michaels at the Polo Lounge, and producers spent 18 months preparing with Michaels and Sky executives to blend SNL's legacy with British comedy.
- Each episode runs 75 minutes and is written and rehearsed in the week before broadcast, filmed live before a live studio audience using SNL-style cue cards taught by Wally Feresten over three weeks.
- Sky is backing the series as its costliest unscripted investment, while Peacock holds U.S. streaming rights and will release episodes the day after U.K. broadcasts.
- Jamie Dornan, 43, will host the March 28 episode with Wolf Alice performing, followed by Riz Ahmed, 43, hosting April 4 with Kasabian as musical guests.
