Saskatchewan search and rescue crews join quest to find missing Alberta boy
- Searchers have conducted a five-day operation in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, to find missing six-year-old Darius Macdougall who disappeared Sunday while walking with six young family members.
- The search arose after Darius, a boy with autism from Lethbridge, went missing during a family walk, prompting coordinated rescue efforts across southern Alberta and British Columbia.
- About 120 trained volunteers are combing mountainous terrain using helicopters, drones, dogs, and employing quiet nighttime tactics to respect Darius’s condition and avoid disturbance.
- Adam Kennedy of Alberta Search and Rescue said, "Everybody is still very optimistic," and emphasized that more help from Saskatchewan is joining the effort.
- Despite no sign of Darius found so far, searchers and RCMP remain hopeful he will be found alive, while a community support centre fosters connection during the difficult search.
