Sarnia police announce arrest of Lambton College murder suspect
Police say Kyaw Doe was arrested after a more than two-week manhunt, and a $50,000 reward had been offered for information.
On Monday, Sarnia police arrested 24-year-old Kyaw Chin Doe at a London residence, ending a two-week search for the suspect in the April 10 Lambton College fatal shooting.
Shots rang out at Lambton College's Lions Den Pub in the early hours of April 10 following an altercation between two groups, killing 20-year-old Dane Nisbet and wounding two others.
Three people were previously charged in connection with Nisbet's death: Odum Richard Bun faces second-degree murder, while 19-year-olds Johnathan Osborne-Walsh and Ava-Leigh Lightheart face accessory and firearm-related offences.
Sarnia Police Chief Derek Davis said the arrest "brings a small measure of comfort" to the grieving community after Nisbet's April 17 funeral, attended by hundreds including Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley.
A $50,000 reward for information leading to Doe's arrest was offered during the two-week search, underscoring police commitment as court proceedings begin for all those charged.
