Sam Darnold is "recovering faster than anyone had anticipated"
Ian Rapoport said Darnold has a pretty good chance to practice this week after a glute injury, and Seattle may only need to wait one or two starts.
On Sunday, September 20, the Seattle Seahawks ruled starting quarterback Sam Darnold out for the Week 2 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals due to a glute injury.
Darnold suffered the soft-tissue glute injury during the Week 1 game against the New England Patriots, leaving after the opening possession.
Backup quarterback Drew Lock stepped in, leading Seattle to a 31-7 victory over Arizona that improved the team's record to 2-0.
Opting against placing Darnold on injured reserve, the team indicated it does not expect the injury to keep him out for an extended period.
Coach Mike Macdonald said the quarterback's timetable "has shifted quite drastically," suggesting Darnold could return to practice this week.
