The death has occurred of Eamon Phelan from Portlaoise, the former highly-regarded county librarian. Mr Phelan was a long-serving member of Laois County Council and is recalled fondly for the years he served as county librarian, based in the old courthouse and then Lyster Square. A member of the Phelan family who have made a massive contribution to local life in Laois, he is remembered for his kindness, diligence and professionalism in the role.…
