In the Russian parliamentary election, the United Russia Party won a clear victory: according to the election commission, it received 58 percent of the votes. However, due to direct mandates, the Kremlin House Party in the Duma accounts for about 350 of the 450 mandates. The remaining seats go to four parties that are also faithful to the Kremlin, and real opposition forces were not allowed to vote.
Vladimir Putin will be able to rule even more unhindered, as his ruling party is credited with an even larger supermajority in the elections to the Russian State Duma.
