Russian drones kill two in market outside Kyiv, three others in different regions, local officials say
Moscow launched 165 drones to degrade national infrastructure, causing widespread damage to civilian residential and business districts across the country, according to Ukrainian authorities.
- On Monday, a Russian drone struck the National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv, killing at least one person and injuring 19. Firefighters searched the wreckage of the historic building as flames leaped from the site.
- A fresh wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine killed at least seven people and injured more than 50, hitting residential buildings and data centers. President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Moscow of targeting civilians in an act of pure terrorism.
- In the southeastern city of Dnipro, a business center attack killed three people, while another strike in Synelnykove killed one person. Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha reported Russia is widening attacks on economic targets beyond warehouses and port facilities.
- Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the strike on a scientific institution, warning that unresponded attacks encourage further aggression. President Zelensky stated on Telegram that supporting Ukraine "means truly supporting people's lives."
- President Zelensky noted on Saturday that intercepting new, high-flying jet drones has proven difficult. Ukraine continues targeting Russian oil facilities and defense plants to undermine Moscow's war effort, as both sides deny deliberately targeting civilians.
