Russian attack cuts power in Odesa region as strikes on Kyiv enter seventh day
Officials said the attack damaged energy and residential infrastructure and left large parts of Odesa without power.
On Wednesday, Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on Odesa, damaging residential and energy infrastructure; Serhiy Lysak, head of the city's military administration, reported eight people were injured.
This assault marks a second consecutive night of heavy strikes on the port city, following Tuesday's attack that wounded seven civilians and damaged the Orlivka international ferry crossing on Ukraine's border with Romania.
A 24-story residential building sustained significant damage with apartments destroyed across several floors, while strikes also damaged cars, office buildings, and two educational institutions in the Peresyp district.
Strikes also hit the capital, Kyiv, where seven people were injured and a residential building was partially destroyed; Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed damage to a medical facility, while Governor Tymur Tkachenko reported two injuries in the surrounding region.
Moscow has intensified attacks using swarms of fast-flying jet-powered drones, a tactic deployed since last week, as Ukrenergo reported major damage to energy infrastructure causing widespread power cuts in the region.
