Russia says Ukrainian drone attack killed four in Novorossiysk
Russian officials said four people, including a child, were killed and 29 others were wounded as fires damaged homes and port facilities.
Four people, including a child, were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on Novorossiysk on Wednesday, according to Krasnodar Krai Governor Veniamin Kondratyev, who reported 29 others were wounded.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrei Kravchenko confirmed the overnight assault resulted in debris falling on residential and industrial facilities throughout the city.
Three private homes, apartment buildings, a church, and a kindergarten sustained damage, Kondratyev reported, while fires erupted at a fuel oil terminal and apartment building.
The Defense Ministry reported 596 Ukrainian drones were shot down overnight across various regions, while authorities noted additional damage from drone debris in the town of Anapa.
Novorossiysk remains a frequent target of Ukrainian drone strikes, serving as a major outlet for Russian oil, oil products, and grain exports among other commodities.
According to Ukrainian services, this naval base and several ships of the Russian fleet were affected, as well as oil storage facilities and the Cheskharis terminal. The Russian authorities acknowledged an attack in this area, claiming that four people, including one child, were killed.
