Russia says it could strike UK military targets in response to Ukrainian strikes using British missiles
Maria Zakharova said Britain could face strikes on military sites after Ukraine used British missiles in attacks on Russian territory, Reuters reported.
- On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova threatened to strike British military targets inside and outside Ukraine in response to Britain's decision to share Storm Shadow missile technology with Kyiv.
- Britain announced on Monday it would allow Kyiv access to classified technology for producing Storm Shadow long-range cruise missiles, prompting Russia to warn that Britain and France were "playing with fire" by supplying sensitive missile technology.
- Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine, firing 258 drones and various missiles; nearly 90% of drones were downed, though infrastructure damage occurred in Odesa and Kyiv.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this week that European allies made "important decisions to strengthen Ukrainian air defense," noting Ukraine recently received a small batch of US-made Patriot interceptors.
