Russia plans major expansion of drone material production at Alabuga
Russia is expanding a state-owned factory supplying critical materials for its attack drones, potentially adding enough production capacity for around 28,000 Shahed-type drone airframes a year, according to Russian documents obtained by Politico .
By 2029, 500 tonnes of carbon fibers are to be produced annually for the Geran-2 fighting drones. This means that 64,000 per year can be produced.
Russia is expanding the Alabuga-Fiber plant in Tatarstan, which produces carbon fiber for the bodies of long-range strike drones. Internal documents of Rosatom indicate plans to additionally produce up to 500 tons of carbon per year, which, according to the expert, could provide material for about 28 thousand drones annually.
