Russia has become a rival to Elon Musk's US-based Starlink satellite internet network project. The satellite network is intended for use particularly in regions such as Siberia, Russia's Far East, and the Arctic.
Russia is taking steps to create an internet network consisting of hundreds of low-orbit satellites as an alternative to the US-based SpaceX Starlink system, with the system, named Rassvet, planned to become operational in 2027.
