Uruguay bade farewell on Thursday to musician Ruben Rada with a wake open to the public at the Legislative Palace, the seat of parliament, after hundreds of people had gathered the previous night with drums in the neighbourhood where he grew up, with no official summons involved.
The Uruguayan musician died at the age of 83 and his family, friends and colleagues gathered in the Legislative Palace to give him the last farewell. As Rada had asked, the ceremony was marked by music, singing and joy, with artists who danced one of his most emblematic songs.
