RSF says Israel killed highest number of journalists again ...
- On Tuesday, RSF said Israeli forces caused 43% of journalist deaths in 2025 and called them `the worst enemy of journalists`.
- RSF's annual report recorded deaths over 12 months from December 2024 and showed nearly 220 journalists have died since October 2023 hostilities began.
- RSF also highlighted country-level tolls such as a double-tap strike on a south Gaza hospital on Aug 25 that killed five journalists, including Reuters and AP contributors.
- Detentions and imprisonments rose alongside the death toll, with 503 detained journalists in 47 countries, including China , Russia and Myanmar , while Palestinian journalists protested killings and foreign reporters faced tight Israeli military restrictions.
- Comparing years, RSF found 67 journalists killed this year, slightly up from 66 in 2024, with Israel as biggest killer for three years running, far below the 142 deaths in 2012 and average since 2003 around 80.
