Garcia Exits Royals Game with Left Hamstring Injury
Garcia left after straining his left hamstring in the first inning and is likely headed back to the injured list after returning Monday.
On Thursday, Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia strained his left hamstring during the first inning of the team's 6-2 victory over the Athletics.
Garcia had returned to the lineup Monday, ending a nearly two-month absence from the injured list after suffering a left hand muscle strain on June 23.
John Rave replaced Garcia in the second inning, taking over in right field while Nick Loftin shifted to third base. Garcia had produced five hits and two RBI in the series.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Garcia underwent an MRI and is "likely to go on the IL tomorrow." Quatraro called it a "Really tough break" for the returning player.
Teammate Bobby Witt Jr., who homered and scored three runs, added, "Anytime a guy's just coming back from an injury we hate to see that." The setback marks Garcia's second hamstring exit in 2026.
The Kansas City Royals' ante-list Maikel Garcia will probably return to the injured list just three days after returning after an absence of almost two months.
