An archaeological expedition developed from a routine voyage: police divers discovered an ancient Roman ship before Gallipoli. It had apparently loaded amphorae with a special sauce.
The discovery took place in June 2025 in the course of normal activities of control at sea conducted by the Guardia di Finanza with the use of sophisticated instruments that have signalled an anomaly on the bottom. Only today the news of the important finding has been diffused to protect the exhibit.
