Rob Rinder Mourns His Father, Who Has Died Aged 73
Rob Rinder said his father died at 73 and urged more awareness of Lewy body dementia, which affects about 125,000 people in the United Kingdom.
On Thursday, TV judge and barrister Robert Rinder announced that his father, David Rinder, died on Wednesday at age 73, remembering him as 'a London cabbie and lifelong Spurs supporter.'
David had been living with Lewy body dementia, which affects around 125,000 people in the UK and which Rinder described as 'poorly understood, frequently missed and desperately under-researched.'
In a lengthy tribute, Rinder wrote that although they were 'very different men,' he 'never once doubted his pride in me,' while praising Jewish Care as 'a place where dignity and tenderness were practised every day.'
Colleagues including Denise Welch, Alan Carr, and Susanna Reid offered public support, while Rinder has served as a patron for the Lewy Body Society following his father's diagnosis.
Concluding his tribute, Rinder urged followers to 'learn its name, learn its signs and if you can, support the work to change that,' emphasizing that dementia can obscure a person but 'it does not erase them.
