As of Thursday, the so-called "right to repair" will apply to many household appliances and mobile phones in Austria. As of 1 October, the provisions of the EU Goods Repair Directive, which was adopted in 2024, will enter into force. In July, the National Council poured them into national law. Manufacturers of damaged goods must offer a repair even after the warranty period has expired.
