The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the death of K-9 Cato
The Hancock County Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of K-9 Cato, who died Wednesday after being seriously injured during a training exercise at Nauvoo Grade School. The Sheriff's Office says Cato was working with her handler, Deputy Milo Koechle, when she struck a glass door and suffered a fatal neck injury. Cato was immediately taken to a veterinary hospital in Keokuk, where emergency medical treatment was provided. Despite the efforts of veterinary staff, she died from her injuries. The Sheriff's Office says Cato was a valued member of the department who played an important role supporting deputies and serving Hancock County residents.
