On Sunday, Austrian Vice-Chancellor Andreas Pepler announced his intention to resign from office and to step down early next year from the leadership of the ruling Socialist Democratic Party.
Andreas Babler gives up: Austria's vice chancellor, whose SPÖ rules in a coalition with the conservative ÖVP and liberal neos, has announced to withdraw from his post in 2027, as well as from the party chair of the Social Democrats.
Andreas Babler remains for the time being, Philip Kucher and Eva Maria Holzleitner are to take over the party, Markus Marterbauer the vice chancellor's office in the long term.
