Residents in Lahad Datu, Tawau Feel Tremors From 5.0-Magnitude Quake
BMKG said the 5.2 magnitude quake was 92 kilometers deep and caused no damage or casualties, with tremors felt across Lombok and Sumbawa.
The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency reported a magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck the West Lombok Regency area in West Nusa Tenggara on Wednesday, with an epicenter located 92 kilometers deep.
Sumawan, Head of the Mataram Geophysics Station, stated the earthquake's impact extended across multiple regions; tremors were felt across various areas of Lombok and Sumbawa.
Earlier on Tuesday, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck 14 km from Kodi, Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, at a depth of 19 kilometers.
No tsunami threat was posed by the Southwest Sumba earthquake, the BMKG reported, and as of Wednesday, no damage or casualties have been reported.
Officials urged the public to remain calm and avoid unverified information about the seismic events, with the BMKG continuing to monitor the situation.
