At the end of July, Ceuta experienced an unprecedented situation. In just a few hours, tens of thousands of people crossed the border from Morocco. The Spanish Ministry of the Interior numbered around 72,000 in those days. The vast majority returned shortly after and, at the beginning of September, the Interior estimated that some 5,000 people remained in the city.
