Reddit rallies as AI‑driven ad growth fuels strong revenue outlook
The company beat revenue and profit estimates as daily active users rose 17% and second-quarter sales guidance topped Wall Street forecasts.
On Thursday, Reddit reported first-quarter revenue of $663 million, a 69% increase year-over-year that beat analyst estimates, and issued an optimistic second-quarter forecast that sent shares up 11% in extended trading.
Reddit's growth stems from AI-powered advertising tools that enable brands to target users within specific subreddit discussions, positioning the platform to compete with rivals like Meta and TikTok for ad dollars.
Daily active unique users rose 17% to 126.8 million during the quarter, while average revenue per user reached $5.23; Reddit Chief Operating Officer Jen Wong reported a 75% year-over-year increase in active advertisers.
The company generated $312 million in operating cash flow and $311 million in free cash flow, while net income soared to $204 million from $26 million a year ago, ending with $2.77 billion in cash.
Reddit expects second-quarter revenue between $715 million and $725 million, with CEO Steve Huffman stating the platform's community-driven foundation provides "a unique advantage in the age of AI.
