A Haitian man drowned on the afternoon of Saturday, February 1, after being swept away by the strong current of the Chavón River in the Santa Cruz de Gato sector of Higüey, La Altagracia province. According to official reports, the body was recovered around 3:30 p.m. after authorities were notified of the incident, that is, the presence of a deceased person on the riverbank.
