Rare payphone on display in Gilmer draws curiosity from younger generation

A payphone sitting in a grassy area off Montgomery Street in Gilmer has drawn numerous calls from curious residents, some of whom had never seen one before. The payphone is displayed on the Dean family property alongside old farm and ranch equipment. It still has an old rotary dial. Some passersby thought it was a donation box, others an ATM. One person even thought it was a stand-up jail cell for a single person.
