In Nepal, massive flooding resulted in 19 deaths and hundreds of missing persons on Wednesday, 26 August. The government convened an emergency meeting.
The devastating floods in Nepal have caused significant damage to roads, bridges, power, banking, and communications systems. Eleven hydropower plants have been damaged, leaving 431 megawatts of electricity generation out of the system. Nineteen bridges and 40 kilometers of roads have been damaged. More than 25 telecom sites have been affected, while numerous bank and financial institution offices have been washed away.
