Queen to visit York tomorrow for major event
Camilla will meet charity partners and festival staff as York stages record prize-money races and draws international horses to the four-day meeting.
Queen Camilla arrived at York Racecourse on Wednesday to open the Ebor Festival, braving heavy rain as she was welcomed at the North Yorkshire venue for the four-day event.
Adorning her outfit was a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch originally gifted to the late Queen Elizabeth in 1977, subtly honoring her predecessor during her duties as York Racecourse patron.
During her visit, Camilla met with those Buckingham Palace described as "unsung heroes" of the racecourse, including a St. John Ambulance volunteer with 50 years of service and retiring jockey Joe Fanning.
After the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team performed, the Queen presented the trophy for the Juddmonte International Stakes, the festival's premier race offering £1.5 million in prize money.
Camilla featured in a new video for cancer charity Maggie's, discussing the "difficult" emotional experience of keeping King Charles's cancer diagnosis secret before it was publicly announced.
