Q&A: Reshona Landfair, ‘Jane’ in the R. Kelly trial, tells her story in ‘Who’s Watching Shorty?’
Landfair says her testimony exposed abuse and helped document survivors’ experiences in the R. Kelly case, which drew extensive Chicago Tribune coverage.
On Thursday, Reshona Landfair, known as 'Jane,' released her memoir and documentary 'Who's Watching Shorty?' recounting her experiences with R. Kelly.
Seeking to reclaim her narrative, Landfair wrote the project to process the trauma of being involved with Kelly when she was a 14-year-old girl.
Confronting her past required Landfair to address her tendency to mask her feelings. "I didn't make excuses," she stated, speaking her truth about the circumstances she endured.
Kelly is currently serving a 30-year prison sentence following his conviction on federal sex trafficking and child pornography charges, establishing the legal context for Landfair's account.
Through this memoir, Landfair hopes to bring awareness to the cycle of abuse and provide a path for other survivors to heal from similar experiences.
