Ryan Browne Leads Purdue Past Indiana State 44-19 in Boilermakers’ Season Opener
Browne completed 23 of 29 passes and Purdue outgained Indiana State 523-284 in a season-opening win.
On Friday, quarterback Ryan Browne threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns, leading Purdue to a 44-19 season-opening victory over Indiana State in West Lafayette, Ind.
Leading 16-6 at halftime, the Boilermakers scored 28 unanswered points to secure their eighth consecutive win against the Sycamores, who compiled 284 total yards in the contest.
Transfer running back Fame Ijeboi rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown in his debut, while receiver Assad Waseem added 107 yards and a score on six catches.
Freshman kicker Jacobo Echeverria Lozano converted field goals from 39, 25, and 23 yards, though the offense "sputtered inside the opponents" 25-yard line three times early.
Purdue now turns its attention to the upcoming schedule, as the team prepares to host Wake Forest on September 12.
