Purdie throws 3 TD passes as Liberty rolls past Ball State 51-15
Purdie completed 13 of 20 passes for 211 yards as Liberty added three rushing touchdowns and improved to 2-1.
Quarterback Deshawn Purdie led Liberty to a 51-15 victory over Ball State on Saturday in Lynchburg, Virginia, completing 13-of-20 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns.
Penalties plagued the Ball State Cardinals, who drew 11 flags for 108 yards including four holding penalties and three 15-yard personal fouls. These errors compounded defensive struggles allowing Liberty to score on seven of their 10 drives.
Running back TJ Horton provided the Cardinals' offensive spark, rushing eight times for 79 yards and two touchdowns. His performance accounted for all of Ball State's scoring in the road defeat.
This result marks the 12th consecutive road loss for head coach Mike Uremovich's Cardinals . The team opens Mid-American Conference play next week at Kent State.
With this win, the Flames improved to 4-0 at home against Mid-American Conference opponents. Liberty outgained the Cardinals 464-239, showcasing dominant execution in the lopsided victory.
