A spokesman for the Puntland region said today, Tuesday, that the security forces had freed the "Hunner 25" oil tanker and its pirate crew after being detained for several months. A number of pirates had been detained, some of them injured during an exchange of fire. The tanker, which sailed under Palau's flag and with a crew from Pakistan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, had been hijacked on its way to Palau on 21 April.
The Puntland Autonomous Region Maritime Police Force in Somalia released the Honour 25, which had been holding pirates for five months, an operation that took place in the Bandarbale area of the Karkaar region, and all crew members on board were released, reported The Daily Somalia.
