At the third meeting of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Council in December, a nearly 35% increase in public transportation fares was approved for 2026. The decision, passed by a majority vote, raised the full fare from 26 TL to 35 TL. The decision drew strong criticism from AK Party members, who reminded them of ABB President Mansur Yavaş's promise a month earlier to "purchase 1,000 buses and make transportation free."
