The MFF points to greater growth and budgetary surplus (without counting the decline of the IRS) in 2026. But from 2027 the public accounts are no longer certain.
An entity that evaluates fiscal policy in Portugal has reviewed high projections for GDP and the budget balance this year, but forecasts that deficits will be back in 2027, reaching 1.7% in 2030.
The Council of Public Finance (CFP) anticipates a surplus of 0.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) this year, although without considering the reduction of RSI, and a deficit of 0.2% in 2027, in the projections released today.
