Karnataka to name Karwar medical college after Ramakrishna Hegde: DK Shivakumar
Karnataka will permanently honour former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde. The Karwar Medical College will be named after him. A major Bengaluru road will also bear his name. An award for best panchayats will be introduced annually. Hegde's vision for Panchayati Raj influenced national policy.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the proposed medical college in Uttara Kannada, the home district of former Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde, and a major road in Shivaram Karanth Layout in Bengaluru will be named after the veteran leader
"The state government will take many important steps to perpetuate the name of former Chief Minister late Ramakrishna Hegde," Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said. He was speaking while inaugurating the birth centenary ceremony of former Chief Minister late Ramakrishna Hegde, held at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha, on Saturday, along with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan.
