Experts selected by the government made several recommendations, but the Ministry of Labour ensures that structural reform of social security remains outside the plans of the legislature.
The Government reiterates that it will not move forward with a structural reform of social security in this legislature and points out that the report presented on Tuesday is another contribution to the public debate on the subject.
The working group coordinated by economist Jorge Bravo proposed this Tuesday that progress be made with a structural reform of the pension system or ad hoc reforms. But although the study was commissioned by the government, structural reforms in Social Security are not a matter until the end of the legislature.
With the report on the sustainability of the Social Security system now known, which points to a deficit of close to R$ 2 billion, the executive assures that this is a "closed" issue in the medium term.
