Private corporate capex estimated at Rs 3.2 lakh crore in FY27, investment momentum sustained: RBI Bulletin
The Reserve Bank stated Friday in the September Bulletin that the Indian economy remains resilient despite global uncertainties from the West Asia crisis, with record foreign exchange reserves of $766 billion as of September 18.
Private corporate sector capital expenditure is estimated at Rs 3.2 lakh crore in 2026-27 based on pipeline projects financed through banks, financial institutions, ECBs, and IPOs, indicating sustained momentum.
Infrastructure remained the primary destination for investment, accounting for 54.2 per cent of sanctioned project costs in FY26, while greenfield projects represented 89.2 per cent of total costs showing capacity expansion.
Headline CPI inflation picked up in August while Core inflation excluding precious metals rose from recent lows, as crude prices increase and reignite concerns about supply chain disruptions.
The investment outlook is expected to remain healthy despite heightened global uncertainties, though The RBI noted reserves provide cover for 11.2 months of goods imports and exceed external debt outstanding.
