Pritzker Campaign Responds After Trump Visit
The campaign said Trump is not tethered to reality as Democrats pointed to rising grocery and gas prices and cuts to health care and education funding.
President Donald Trump visited Illinois to award the Cup at Medinah Country Club on Sunday, claiming during his trip that inflation is decreasing nationwide.
Following the president's remarks, Democrats in Illinois expressed disagreement with his economic assertions, noting residents face rising costs at gas pumps and grocery stores.
Trump claimed stock markets and 401s are at all-time highs, while State Sen. Dave Koehler, D-Peoria, criticized the administration for cutting health care and education funding.
A spokesperson for Gov. Pritzker's campaign stated in The Center Square that the president is "not tethered to reality" and should focus on delivering promised lower costs.
Christian Mitchell, Pritzker's lieutenant governor candidate, joined Democratic lawmakers in Bloomington on Monday to continue campaigning against the administration's economic narrative.
