Pret A Manger opens first UK drive-thru just outside Liverpool
The trial site expands Pret’s travel-hub strategy with one vehicle lane, 48 seats and EV charging points.
On Tuesday, Pret A Manger opened its first UK drive-thru in Warrington, Cheshire, at junction 21 of the M6 in partnership with Motor Fuel Group. The new outlet offers customers a full menu while on the move.
This trial format supports Pret's strategic expansion into transport and travel locations across the UK. Of the chain's 500 UK shops, 220 are already in airports, stations, and motorway service areas, with Motor Fuel Group operating 35.
The site features one vehicle lane and interior seating for up to 48 people, alongside EV charging points and customer toilets. Customers access the full breakfast and lunch menu plus barista-prepared drinks and snacks.
Pret President for the UK and Ireland Ross Warnes called travel hubs a 'huge growth opportunity,' describing the launch as a 'natural next step' in the company's expansion strategy. Warnes emphasized meeting customers where they are.
As Pret's largest UK franchise partner, Motor Fuel Group views the outlet as a major milestone. Jack Tindall, head of food service operations at the group, expressed pride in launching this new format for the Warrington community.
