Uganda: 22 Arrested in Nakaseke Over Illegal Wildlife Possession

Police in Nakaseke District have arrested 22 people after they were intercepted transporting suspected wildlife products and hunting equipment during a night operation at Mijumwa Trading Centre.

The Police in Nakaseke district has arrested 22 suspects in connection with the alleged unlawful possession of wildlife species and suspected wildlife products. On 17 August 2026 at about 2300 hours, officers at a snap checkpoint intercepted a white Toyota Hiace taxi, registration number UAV 523K, which was carrying hunting equipment, suspected wildlife products and 22 occupants.
