Anduril Plans $3.7B Submarine Shipyard at Sparrows Point, Bringing 3,100 Jobs to Baltimore County
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump and Maryland Gov. Wes Moore announced Anduril Industries will construct Arsenal-2, a $3.7 billion shipyard at Tradepoint Atlantic in Baltimore County.
The U.S. Navy awarded Anduril an up to $2.9 billion contract to boost submarine production, addressing critical bottlenecks in the Virginia-class program.
Designed to exceed 2 million square feet, Arsenal-2 will create 3,100 permanent jobs and is projected to contribute $2 billion to the regional economy annually.
Maryland and Baltimore County officials plan to match up to 13% of the investment, including up to $210 million in property tax relief pending legislative action.
Operations at the site are targeted to begin in 2030, returning large-scale shipbuilding to the historic Bethlehem Steel site while advancing Anduril's influence in Pentagon initiatives like Project Meridian.
Anduril Industries, a U.S. defense tech company well-known for manufacturing drones and autonomous aircraft, plans to invest $3.7 billion to build a large-scale new shipbuilding facility in Maryland. Anduril intends to produce U.S. Navy nuclear-powered submarines at this facility.
