President Trump endorses Mike Mazzei for Oklahoma governor
Trump backed Mike Mazzei, calling him a MAGA warrior and saying he would cut taxes, grow jobs and advance America First policies.
On Friday, May 29, President Donald Trump endorsed Mike Mazzei for Oklahoma governor, calling him a "MAGA Warrior" in a Truth Social post. The endorsement impacts the upcoming June 16 Republican primary.
Featuring a crowded field, the Republican primary includes Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, Chip Keating, and Charles McCall. Polls show the candidates in a tight race, with Drummond's initial lead narrowing as others gain ground.
Financial records show Mazzei has funded his campaign with nearly $4 million in personal loans, while Keating and McCall report about $2 million each. He promotes "AMERICA FIRST Policies," prioritizing the elimination of the state's income tax.
Drummond expressed respect for Trump while asserting that Oklahomans will decide the next governor. He remains energized to earn votes during the final 18 days before the primary election.
To avoid a runoff in the June 16 primary election, a candidate must secure more than 50% of the votes cast. Pollster Pat McFerron anticipates a runoff, noting the competitive field may prevent any candidate from reaching that threshold.
