While not all candidates have yet officially declared themselves for the 2027 presidential election, the first have received a letter from the budget rapporteur to the National Assembly, Philippe Juvin. The latter presses them to "tell the French the truth about the state of our accounts".
The MP LR Philippe Juvin, the budget rapporteur for the National Assembly, has written to some 20 candidates already declared in the presidential election. He asks them what they intend to do with regard to the recovery of public finances. MP LR Philippe Juvin has sent a letter to each of the candidates, in which he asks them to detail the measures to tackle the country's deficit. The answers will be sent to the members of the Finance Committee.
Debt could reach 119 per cent of GDP this year and exceed 130 per cent by 2030.
