Pratikno Visits Palace as Prabowo Names Advisory Board
The 26-member body includes business leaders, retired generals and religious figures, and Pratikno is tipped to chair it.
On Friday, October 2, 2026, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated his first Presidential Advisory Council at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, appointing 26 members to the body nearly two years into his term.
The appointments arrived well after the statutory deadline, following a law enacted before Prabowo took office that required the board to be filled within three months and removed the previous nine-member cap.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno will chair the council, which includes billionaires Chairul Tanjung and Tahir, retired general Agum Gumelar, and former Constitutional Court chief justice Anwar Usman.
Members are tasked with advising the president on executive power, as mandated by the 1945 Constitution. Pratikno stressed that "Any assignment carried out in the interest of the state and the public must be executed to the best of our ability."
These appointments extend a broader shake-up of Prabowo's administration, coming just a day after the president swore in more than a dozen new officials on Thursday, including a new national police chief and foreign minister.
