Powerful Drama Leads BAFTA Scotland Awards Nominations with Seven Nods
BAFTA said it consulted safeguarding experts and made adjustments so Davidson can attend with family and friends after February’s on-air slur controversy.
The biopic 'I Swear', based on the life of Tourette syndrome campaigner John Davidson, leads the 2026 BAFTA Scotland Awards with seven nominations, including Best Feature Film.
Davidson previously sparked controversy at February's BAFTA Film Awards when involuntary tics caused him to shout a racial slur, prompting an independent review of the organization's safety procedures.
BAFTA chair Sara Putt and CEO Jane Millichip confirmed the organization has "strengthened and centralised" its safeguarding, risk assessment, and compliance processes following the incident.
Davidson will attend the November 15 ceremony in Glasgow but will watch via video link from a "separate relaxed space" with his family and friends.
Public voting for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award remains open until Friday, October 30, with nominees including Peter Mullan and Ncuti Gatwa vying for the public-decided honor.
