The new PISA results, in fact, show a worsening of outcomes in all three areas of testing, with the biggest decline recorded in reading literacy.
According to the results, 64 percent of Croatian students reached at least the basic, second level of mathematical literacy, which means that 36 percent remained below it.
Since the new PISA tests, which measured the knowledge of 15-year-olds, showed that a record 36 percent of Croatian students do not even reach the basic level of mathematical literacy, while only five percent can solve the most complex problems, the Croatian Employers' Association (HUP) proposes longer primary education with a focus on mathematical and other basic literacy skills.
