Taking as a background the recent supply crisis in Almada and the future airport designed for Alcochete, the Executive approved an order to move forward with studies to reduce the dependence of the Tejo-Sado aquifer and find new solutions in 120 days
The idea is that the district of Setúbal has redundancy in the supply, joining the water of Castelo de Bode and the river Tejo to the aquifer Tejo-Sado, the current source of supply. Crisis of water scarcity in the municipality of Almada served as a lesson.
Waters from Portugal and the Portuguese Environment Agency have 120 days to propose technical solution to strengthen water supply to the south and new airport, from the Tagus or Castelo de Bode.
Minister of the Environment admits to resorting to Bode Castle, the Tagus River or to the two origins
Maria da Graça Carvalho said the technical solution will be complementary to the use of groundwater.
