Daniel Křetínský was born on 9 July 1975 in Brno, South Moravia (Czech Republic, then Czechoslovakia). A lawyer of formation who became a magnate of energy, he built one of the first fortunes of Central Europe on coal and lignite, before moving, starting in 2018, as a funder of the "independent" French press.
