It is learnt that Ajit was at his residence in Kharagpur on Thursday night. The police reached there on Friday morning. After some time, he was taken to the police station. Later, the arrest process was completed and he was sent to Debra police station, according to sources. Naturally, discussions have started in political circles surrounding the incident.
Another former MLA from Mamata Banerjee's party has been arrested. Former TMC MLA Ajit Maiti has been arrested in a 10-year-old ₹1.5 million extortion case.
