Police: Parksville Porch Pirate Pilfers Pack of Pooch Provisions
RCMP said the theft was one of 340 complaints reported in a week as officers investigated break-ins, scams and vandalism.
- On July 29, a male suspect stole a delivery package containing dog food from a front porch in the 1000 block of Tara Crescent, according to the Oceanside RCMP.
- The theft was among 340 complaints received by the RCMP during the week of July 27 to Aug. 2 as officers responded to varied criminal activity across the region.
- Other property crimes reported recently included a yellow and black Fender Strat brand guitar stolen July 31 in the 3000 block of Island Highway West in Qualicum Beach and a licence plate stolen July 30 on Lee Road.
- Residents also reported multiple financial scams, including one victim losing $500 to a caller posing as a financial services provider and another involving a phone company identity theft scheme.
- The RCMP detachment at 421 Pym Street North in Parksville handles non-emergency reports at 250-248-6111, while residents should call 911 if they witness a crime in progress.
